This directory contains files describing the upstream project that is packaged.


== debian/upstream/metadata ==

This is a file in YAML format where information about Upstream is recorded for the UpstreamMetadata gatherer.

This syntax is being formalised as [[http://dep.debian.net/deps/dep12|DEP 12]].


== debian/upstream/signing-key.asc ==

This file is used by `uscan` to authentify the source archive downloaded at the URL indicated by the [[debian/watch]] file.

== debian/upstream/edam ==

This is a file in YAML format to categorise and describe the Debian package with terms of the [[http://edamontology.org|EDAM ontology]] ([[http://www.ebi.ac.uk/ols/beta/ontologies/edam|browse]]). Together with the debian/upstream/metadata and debian/control files, the upstream folder then contains every information to auto-create a decent entry in the [[http://bio.tools|bio.tools]] database of the Euroean [[http://www.elixir-europe.org/|ELIXIR]] project. If more than a single binary package is created, the file may be decided to name ''packagename''.edam, instead. See [[debian/upstream/edam]] for details.
