Xorg is a ["X-Window-System"] server which will be in the next the main X-Server from the next DebianRelease (DebianEtch). It replaces ["XFree86"].
Current Status
- Current testing release is Xorg 6.9
Current unstable release is Xorg 7.0. Please see ["Xorg69To7"].
- Current experimental release is Xorg 7.0. This is out of date relative to the unstable packages.
X.org is not officially available for Debian ["Sarge"], however, unoficial package are available from ["?BackportsOrg"] see http://backports.org/instructions.html for instructions.
Configure X
As ["root"] user, run:
dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
(see ["dpkg"]).
This will present you with a wizard for configuration.
Run X
After installation run
startx
(see ["startx"]).
