TextMode with 132x60

This page intends to document which graphics cards support VESA BIOS Extensions with text mode 0x010C (132x60).

Background

Many VGA graphics cards support text modes, with 80x25 being the most commonly used one. However since monitors usually support more than only 640x480 pixel higher resolution text modes with smaller fonts are possible. A number of graphics cards therefore support VESA BIOS Extensions that include higher resolution text modes.

Most of them provide 132x43 or 132x44 characters on the screen which relates to 1024x786 pixel. Unfortunately only some of them support 132x60 characters that relate to 1280x1024 pixel.

The program ddcprobe will tell you which text modes the graphic card supports without a reboot.
