GNU Social (former StatusNet)

GNU Social is a federated social network for microblogging, which uses free software (GNU Social, former ?StatusNet).

https://fosstodon.org/@debian is a non-official account which retransmits the micronews.debian.org RSS feed for the ?StatusNet fediverse, maintained by LauraArjona (password stored in the Publicity Team infrastructure).

There were two non official Debian groups in the fediverse. The URLs for both groups now fail to resolve, however.

Mastodon

Mastodon is a federated social network for microblogging, which uses free software.

It federates with GNU Social and other networks using ?ActivityPub protocol, so users there can follow https://fosstodon.org/@debian and get the news and interact easily.

Twitter

Twitter is a centralized social network for microblogging, which uses non-free software.

@debian is a non-official account maintained by Martin Krafft, Donald Norwood, Paul Tagliamonte and Martin Zobel-Helas. The account is associated to an email of Raphaël Hertzog who can thus reset the password when needed.

@debconf is a non-official account maintained by Martin Krafft and Neil McGovern.

Facebook

Facebook is a centralized social network, which uses non-free software.

The Debian page is non-official. It is maintained by Raphaël Hertzog.

?LinkedIn is a business oriented centralized network, which uses non-free software. It is owned by Microsoft.

The Debian page is non-official. It is used by ?LinkedIn Member as a link from their Resume/Profile, to display their affilation.

It reposts automatically the content from https://micronews.debian.org/feeds/feed.rss and https://www.debian.org/security/dsa

Admins are Cord Beermann, fabbe, kroeckx and mez.

Hacker News

debian on Hacker News is a non-official account owned by the publicity team but currently not used. (Password stored in the Publicity Team infrastructure).
