Task description

The Press Team is the main contact point for press and media people outside Debian: members of the team speak for the project and in the best interest of the project.

In addition, members of the team moderate mails send to th debian-announce@lists.debian.org and debian-news@lists.debian.org mailing lists (but not the localized -news-$lang mailing lists).

The Press team also control everything under webwml/english/News: there's no strict access control but per agreement new files are added only by members of Press Team (and sometimes members of the Publicity Team).

Please note that if the announcement to be sent is not to be kept private until the release, we prefer to draft and work on it via Publicity Team.
