From what little I know about apparmor it looks good. However there is no way I would feel comfortable with backporting those changes without more discussion. I am inclined to start by posting something on debian-devel. - periapt; I believe there is some work going on to bring optional apparmor support to Debian. I'll chat w/ Jamie Strandboge this week at UDS about it. IIRC, just leaving the apparmor stuff in will be a noop on boxes without AppArmor on Debian. - clint

upstart

upstart is an Ubuntu replacement for init. Given there is also systemd and conceivably launchd, I doubt upstart will ever be the default on Debian - especially if it is not ported to other archs. debian/mysql-server-5.5.files, debian/mysql-server-5.5.mysql.upstart, debian/mysql-server-5.5.postrm

link client programs dynamically

This should be dropped. There is a bug open in mysql about it. Basically upstream does not think it is safe to dynamically link mysql to libmysqlclient because they use private symbols that may change w/o an ABI bump. I'll find the reference if you like.

I've been asked by our compiler team to see if we can drop that in Ubuntu as well. I think we can for 5.5, but we need to be sure.
