Task description

The goal of the team is to provide high quality packages of the Cinnamon desktop environment for Debian.

Get involved

Help to test packages in Debian testing/unstable or experimental.
Help with Debian (and optionally also Ubuntu) bug triage.
Help with Debian packaging or the upstream one.

Team TODO list

Reduce duplicated efforts with the linuxmint developers (push patches upstream, and try to keep best practices synced)
One of the upstream repositories (nemo-extensions) include 12 different projects that are currently not packaged, some could be added.
It would be better if we could work together with the gnome team, and reduce some of the duplicated efforts if it will be possible, any possible significant changes should be discussed with upstream developers and large Debian-specific patches must be avoided.

Reduce differences with upstream packaging and improve it

It is good to do PR upstream for merging packaging improvements and fixes.

Keep attention that upstream packaging must support latest Debian stable and Ubuntu LTS (in some cases older versions), so something present in Debian unstable/testing packages it cannot be applied immediately to upstream packaging.

Some significant changes may be useful to report upstream and discuss if necessary.

It may be useful to follow the upstream development of new versions and review changes to the upstream packaging to help have good packaging in new versions, reduce differences with Debian packaging and avoid conflicts.

If it will be possible do it, although this may involve more time, it can lead to time savings later.
