-I am currently pursuing third year of B.Tech in Electronic and Communication Engineering under merit (Rajiv Gandhi memorial) scholarship in NIT Warangal, one of the prestigious college in India.
-I have developed the basic prototype for sensor based wireless valve controller. This project was selected for pitch talk in ?AugustFest-India’s largest start-up conference.
-Attended INET conference of Internet Society of Sri Lanka, ?AngelSummit-conference of women in entrepreneurs in 2015.
- Selected as a speaker for FOSSASIA-16, Singapore to talk on "smart guidance for visually impaired people", the project which we have reached upto prototype level.
-Awarded as "women in tech" by the director of NITW due to the outstanding performance in the technical field.
-Developed VHDL model for “Jewellery Lock” and MIPS and implemented on FPGA board.
-Developed Line following robot for National Robotic Competition.
-Designed our own micro controller board within 24 hours of time for Hackathon 3.0 organized by Lakshya Foundation.
-Developed Bluetooth controlled temperature indicator using Galileo board.
-Developed password controlled door lock model within 12 hours of time for Electronic weekend.
-Worked on “Smart Bin” for Hackathon organized by GHCI (Grass Hopper Celebration in India).
-I have also experiences with C++, Matlab, Assembly language, Arduino and VHDL language
I'm willing to work on any of the projects:
- -Improving voice, video and chat communication with free software -Ham radio -Improve the Debian mips and mipsel ports
Project details: a more detailed description.
When it comes to voice and video over IP, most people nowadays are quick to use Skype, Whatsapp, or Viber. These systems come with a big community of people though this Software is only free as free as in beer. Protocols and proprietary, privacy is basically non existent. There are though several free alternatives like Jitsi, Linphone, Ekiga, Tox (qtox) and Mumble. However, the communities are often small and due to a lack of servers firewall traversal can be very cumbersome. Even if all these techniques are also available as open source software (ice turn server, siproxy, jitsi conference bridge, asterisk, freesip), bootstrapping any business relevant network based on these free alternatives is still hard. Automatic dependency resolution does actually help in Debian, however integration and configuration could be greatly simplified. This project will evaluate options to achieve this simplification and integrate necessary changes and documentation into the respective Debian packages.
Synopsis: Helping people to avoid using proprietary communications tools like Skype, Viber and ?WhatsApp by creating an open source application using XMPP as an alternative. The project aims to provide a safe and secure environment with support for the linux desktops.
Benefits to Debian : A secure open source messaging application for Debian users with native support.
Deliverables: A native Linux application with web support which uses open source software and strong encryption to provide an alternative to traditional messaging apps
I am scheduling my project according to the necessity. It may vary with mentor's decision.I could be able to work for 48hrs/week.
Week 1 -4: -Getting familiar with Python and coding for connecting to an email account (using IMAP) and examines every message in every folder.
-Writing a basic Python script to look at the "To", "From" and "CC" headers of every email message in the folder. Identifying all the names and email addresses and writing them in a CSV file.
-Scanning the body of each message looking for phone numbers.(for messages in plain text format)
-Cleaning up the phone numbers, write them in international format and putting those in the CSV file too.
Week 5: Mid term evaluation
Week 6: Learning more about Real Time Communication
Week 6,7 & 8 (July 1st to 10th): Participating in DebConf-16 and giving a talk on my project about what I have achieved till now.
Week 8 & 9: Familiarising with SIP, XMPP and peer to peer technology
Week 10 : Learning more about the problems with proprietary communication such as Skype, ?WhatsApp, Viber.
Week 11 : Finding the problems with already available free alternatives such as Jitsi, Linphone, Ekiga, Tox, Mumble.
Week 12 & 13: Simplification and integrate necessary changes and documentation into the respective Debian packages.
Week 14: Submitting the final code for evaluation
- Logged into the given email using IMAP and looked into the each folder.
- Extracted "To", "From" and "CC" headers of each every email message in the folder and wirting the extracted details in CSV file.
- Scanned each email for phonenunmbers and extracted. They were written in international format and ptu it in CSV file.
Exams and other commitments:
I will be attending DebConf-16 from June 30th to July 10th. My next academic year starts on August 1st.
Other summer plans:

Supported Debian in FOSSASIA-16,Singapore for workshops.
- Are you applying for other projects in SoC?
