Background: Debian Maintainer, 3 year successful GSoC student (last year with Debian).
Project title Improve the Debian mips and mipsel ports
Project details: The Debian mips and mipsel ports have been around for a long time. There are packages which could build and need some porting. Also, some of the recently uploaded packages stop building and we need to investigate what's causing the failures. The quality of Debian will be improved by fixing these problems. It is very common that a fix on one architecture is a similar fix on other architectures.
Synopsis: MIPS improvements
Benefits to Debian: Enable Debian to support a larger number of computer architectures with good quality, as amd64 and i386.
Deliverables: bug reports, patches, closed bugs, improvements in statistics in buildd.
Project schedule: this project is, in general, not date-bounded. There will always be work to be done in the MIPS arch. I can begin working in the project as soon as the GSoC coding time begins.
Exams and other commitments: Yes, I will have exams in September which I will need to prepare in July and August.
Other summer plans: I expect to travel to some FLOSS conferences (TBD) and perhaps some day trips to beach and the like.
Why Debian?: Debian is the FLOSS project I like the most. I will keep contributing to it, apart of my involvement in GSoC.
My previous Debian contributions: I'm DM and maintain several packages (please take a look at my QA dashboard and contributors.d.o). Also, I did GSoC'15 with Debian.
- Are you applying for other projects in SoC? Yes, I'm applying for the Netfilter project as well.
