Student Application Template

To fill this in, copy the source text. Please don't rename the template.

This is a suggestion for the kind of information we'll find useful from students in their submissions. Remember -- you're going to be committing to several months' work. The more information and planning you can provide up-front, the more we (and Google!) will have to go on when we're ranking your application. Do not forget adding your submission at SummerOfCode2014/StudentApplications

Plamen Aleksandrov

Currently I'm studying for my Bachelors degree in University of National and World Economy, Sofia, Bulgaria.

My programming experience is more than 16 years. It includes pure C, cross-compilation, I also have experience with network routers (openwrt), network and system administration, network and system security and encryption. I also have experience with Perl which I often use for automation.

Back in 2006 (until 2012) I started working in a local company called Aomeda. There I worked on different software projects. One of the biggest was a modular ERP suited for custom integration in different types of companies. Also we were working on different custom software solutions for companies and universities.

2012-2013 I worked in company "Innovative Systems". Its focus is on working with big companies. One of our projects is for one of the biggest airlines. Its purpose was to help their engineers (located in different facilities) in their daily work and work flow and to help them manage their projects and tasks. The system had to be synchronized between the different facilities and had to exchange information and tasks constantly.

In my spare time I work as a system and network administrator helping a small company to manage their datacenter. There I practice and master my administration skills. More specifically, I maintain an automated backup system and help with urgent administration tasks.

Some of the packages might not support one of the endians (even if they compile fine, they won't work properly). During the working process, I will try to fix even those packages if possible.

I will work on mips and mipsel at the same time. Apr 21 - May 19 (Before actual start) Create and setup testing/cross compilation environment ( possibly virtual machine with the Debian build infrastructure ). May 20 - Jun 23 (Mid term evaluation) Fixing compilation errors and create patch for each package, for the more trivial ones. Jun 24 - Aug 10 (Suggested pencil down) Create more sophisticated pathes for the more complex problems.

My first experience in the Linux filed was with Debian 2.2 (Potato). This system inspired me to start with Linux and this continues up to this day. I remember my first experience when I was trying hard to compile the kernel with my sound card support. All this magic inspired in me the desire to learn programming skills and become part of the Linux freedom. And now so many years later I am very grateful that Debian inspired me and I would like to return the favour and contribute to the community with all my knowledge and skills.
