Student Application Template

This project can benefit from my IT operation experiences of UNIX/Linux internals, services and also from my application develop skills (thesis at ELTE university) in Android applications (https://github.com/csikosbalint/atlas).
I have been working for 6 years as an IT Ops Engineer (trainee, junior, senior) for a huge hungarian telco company (Magyar Telekom). I have completed a Msc degree on Mechanical Engineering but I felt IT more appropriate for me so beide my daily job I completed a bachelor degree in software engineering. Beside my devops job ( bash, perl, chef DSL ) I am also a hobby programmer. I want to change my main profile to application development but also use my experiences and skill in IT operations.
Integrate Debian with Android
Lil' Debi is an easy Debian chroot running on Android designed to do trusted installs. It builds up a whole Debian chroot on your phone entirely using debootstrap. The user chooses the release, mirror, and size of the disk image, and clicks install. It validates every package using the official Debian repository keys, which are included in the app. It will also check and update a SHA1 checksum to make sure your debian install has not be tampered with. Then it has a simple chroot manager that fscks your disk, mounts/unmounts things, starts/stops sshd if you have it installed, etc. Lil' Debi works with as few modifications to the Android system as possible. Currently, it only adds a /bin symlink, and a /debian mount directory. It does not touch /system at all.
Project schedule: I can start working as soon as requested.
Exams and other commitments: I have a daily job but I can divide my time as I did during the university. It is not a problem to me to schedule my time in order to complete a task dedicated to me.
Other summer plans:
I am not planning to move or have a long vacation.
I am using debian for years and I find this distribution simple and clear for both desktop or server purposes.
- I am not applying to other Soc project.
