William Hester WilliamEHester@gmail.com I am a freshman at Auburn University. I have years of experience with the Android operating system (since 1.0) and about six months of developing experience. I have my own application that is currently available on the Play Store, though it is incomplete due to the amount of time I spend at school. Debian Android Application An Android application that allows the user to access all of his or her package information via his or her Android phone or tablet, with interfaces designed specifically for each. The program would allow access to Debian's Package Tracking System, Bug Tracking System, and the UltimateDebianDatabase all at the touch of a finger. To fetch and display the information, existing Debian APIs are to be used, and user information will be saved in a database; multiple packages will be stored and accessible application-wide for each tool. The Debian Android Application will allow developers quickly manage his or her packages via his or her Android phone or tablet. Debian developers can use the application to track and manage various elements of his or her packages. An Android application available via Google's Play Store or Debian's own website. After familiarizing myself with Debian's APIs, the project will take around two or three months, simply as an estimation. I have great familiarity with Android's APIs, so starting on the User Interface should not be a problem. I can begin work at the beginning of May. I have no commitments all summer. Until school starts back in the fall, I have nothing planned. I have no family trips planned all summer, and I will be able to work all summer on the project. I adopted linux as my primary operating system at the age of fourteen and it has been a love of mine ever since. The nature of open-source intrigues me, and I would love to work on an open-source project. I plan on applying to other projects for the SoC, though I have not found any others that interest me as much as this one.
