Background: I'm in the last year of Computer Engineering. Throughout my degree I have learned a lot of different computer technologies. bash, c, asm, verylog and kernel modules deveopent are examples of technologies that I learned.
Something remarkable is that I get pass with distinction in publishing on the web, the subject of this course was know about how to make web with a correct presentation. Currently I'm developing a Computer Vision Hardware Accelerated System as my final degree project, the project is almost finished and you can see a video at ?rawapro.com/video.html I love learn new technologies each day then the best way to learn all about me is check my webcv in ?cv.rawapro.com, this web still in construction but there an English version that have all my academic information updated.
Project title: Debian GNU/Hurd Debianish initialization
Project details: The Debian GNU/Hurd port currently uses its own initialization scripts, which are neither really good, nor properly integrated with the rest of Debian. The goal of this project is to make this port use the default Debian init system (currently: sysvinit and its rc, sysv-rc), fixing bugs in it and in the associated init scripts, and then simply enable them instead of the GNU/Hurd upstream ones. This will probably also include integrating proper network setup, instead of the current static configuration of the pfinet translator.
Synopsis: Port to Debian/Hurd the default Debian init system.
Benefits to Debian: Have a common way to init Debian kernel independently
Deliverables: Replacing the upstream GNU/Hurd initialization with the mere use of /etc/rcS.d scripts one per one, fixing bugs along. Then just use the standard Debian init/rc system.
Project schedule:
- June 1 - 16: Learning about the current boot sequence
- June 16 - July 31: Port default Debian init system.
- September: Integrate network setup
Exams and other commitments: After June I will be free all summer.
Other summer plans: I dont have any other plan up to the end of september
Why Debian?: Debian was the first distro that I try 7 years ago and I really like it because stable and free.
Why Hurd?: I have experiences with linux kernel and I want to learn about more about this kernel.
Are you applying for other projects in SoC? Yes, firefox and openwall.
