Format
This event is conducted as a "Rolling Sprint", i.e. it's not about a fixed amount of people sitting in a room for a fixed number of days but an event that extends over the whole DebCamp week with the opportunity for people to "hop on" and "hop off" for one or more days. This makes it easier for interested parties who are new to the Debian Perl Group and also for participants who have more plans for DebCamp than one single area of work.
The daily schedule of the "Rolling Sprint" will be:
- A daily coordination meeting after breakfast, where people coordinate the work for this day;
- people working on their selected tasks over the day, alone, in pairs, in groups;
- a progress report before or after dinner to summarize and document the results.
Depending on consensus among participants, we may skip some of the meetings, in order to keep the ratio of working to talk about working at a sensible level.
Infrastructure-wise the "Rolling Sprint" doesn't need a dedicated room, just some place to sit for the short meetings and space for individual work.
Agenda
Work items from pkg-perl OpenTasks, which are not finished at the Debian Perl Group Sprint in Barcelona.
Potential items include:
Patches and git: explore, discuss, maybe decide on other ways than quilt (e.g. git-debcherry).
- Preparation for Perl 5.22.
Decide about packages with RC bugs / file RM bugs.
- Dual-lived modules: update alternative dependencies, explicitly depend on modules which are deprecated or removed from perl core, discuss/implement versioned provides.
Unify our debian/watch files, esp. all the variants how uversionmangle is used; and/or filename regexps.
Switch repackaging framework from repack.{stub,local,sh} to uscan's Files-Excluded.
Change remaining /usr/lib/perl5 occurences (lintian-overrides, doc-base files, ...).
- Check all libapp-*-perl (and potentially other) packages for real applications whose (binary) packages should rather be named foo instead of libapp-foo-perl.
Add/check autopkgtests to all packages.
Fix reproducible build issues.
Ping RC bugs upstream.
Unify NO_INTERNET etc. patches.
- dh-make-perl bug fixing.
