ALSA support on PowerMac
This page attempts to summarize the status of support for ALSA sound on Mac ["PowerPC"] hardware as mentioned in [http://tinyurl.com/b44ls this Ubuntu bounty].
The current info was gathered from this [http://lists.debian.org/debian-powerpc/2005/03/msg00883.html thread on debian-powerpc] and mimics the controls offered by alsamixer. Please add any missing info you can provide.

NOTES
(1) Second generation PPC Macs are machines such as 7500, 8500, etc. that come with a PPC 603, 604 or 604e CPU daughtercard.
(2) Hardware tweaking for exclusive piping to a set of earphones/external speakers means that one needs to pull the connector on the internal speaker, otherwise output will be heard from it even if the earphones/speakers are connected. What's happening here is that the circuitry to shut off the internal speaker isn't activated, therefore one hears stuff from the internal speaker.
Burgundy
- Most of the mutes don't work, or their state cannot be saved.
- Volume sliders for the built-in stereo speakers and for the headphones are reversed (headphone controls the speakers and vice-versa).
