Burgundy: most of the mutes don't work, or their state cannot be saved.

(1) 2nd (Second) generation PPC Macs are machines such as 7500s, 8500s, and the like.

(2) Hardware tweaking for exclusive piping to a set of earphones/external speakers means that one needs to pull the connector on the internal speaker, otherwise output will be heard from it even if the earphones/speakers are connected. What's happening here is that the circuitry to shut off the internal speaker isn't activated, therefore one hears stuff from the internal speaker.
