  • 2012: Modification of a Trac Project plugin to the company that I work. I learned a lot about PostgreSQL and Python.
  • What project(s) are you interested in (these can be in the same or different organizations)?: Test suite for Debian's archive management software (dak) or Improving free financial software packages.

  • Who is a possible mentor for the project you are most interested in?: Ansgar Burchardt or Daniel Pocock.

  • Please describe the details and the timeline of the work you plan to accomplish on the project you are most interested in (discuss these first with the mentor of the project)::

  • Will you have any other time commitments, such as school work, another job, planned vacation, etc., between December 10, 2013 and March 10, 2014?: No.

  • Background: something about yourself: technical skills, experience, etc. Who are you?: When I started to study engineering I had no knowledge about computer and programming. I've done a lot of courses to learn more about the area. Now I know C, Python and Java. In 2009 I made a braille printer with mindstorm lego. In 2010 I did an internship for model and implement a database for the teaching evaluation of my University. In this internship program I had the opportunity to do an education research and I presented the paper at a Education Congress in Canada (CICE). In 2011 I did other internship in a lab of my University about embedded systems. I contributed with a J2ME project to embedded cell phone. In 2012 I worked in a eletronic transaction company and was there that I met open source code. My boss is the portuguese translator of Mercurial. On my projects there, I programmed to change or add some features of the Trac Project for the company. Still in 2012 I did an exchange in Chile until 13/07. In Chile I did a research about embedded systems (gadgeteer) and cloud computer. Now I came back to the eletronic transaction company and I'm doing my thesis to graduate. My thesis is about privacy in a peer-to-peer network. I think this program it's a good idea for programming, contribute with the society and exchange knowledge around the world: three things that I appreciate.

  • Why Debian? Why are you choosing Debian? What attracts you about Debian? : I've realized that Debian is an operational system very powerful, free and a lot of people contribute for its improvement. You are never alone with Debian. I want to contribute too.

  • Are you applying for other projects in OPW? Note that letting us know about this does not impact your chances of acceptance or rejection with us; we ask this because it helps us to resolve deduplications wherein an applicant is accepted for multiple projects.: No
