  • Please describe your experience with Debian as a user and as a contributor (Please include the information about the required contribution you made to the project you are interested in here): I am new to opensource and this was my very first contribution to an opensource project.I learned allot while doing the contributory task.My task was to make test cases for some functions(as per debian mentor's instruction).     • Improving free financial software packages : adapting other packages (e.g. PostBooks, GnuCash, shopping cards), to read live exchange rates from OpenMAMA.

      • using OpenMAMA API to make codes(c++) to retrieve live exchange rates.
      • Developing an interface to get updated data(exchange rates) retrieved by using OpnenMAMA API into the softwares.
      • updating the the data feeds into the software.Thereby helping users in making decisions regarding buying and selling (trading) depending upon change in currency rates.
    • Enabling free multimedia real-time communications (RTC) with Debian :
      • measuring the capabilities of existing and potential packages against the benchmark.
      • setting up continuous integration or test environments to provide ongoing, automated interoperability testing for key packages within the testing and unstable environments.

  • Background: something about yourself: technical skills, experience, etc. Who are you?: I am a second year engineering student.Before I joined an engineering inistitute I had no knowledge of any computer languages but now I know c/c++,some basics of R and beginner level python.I have interest as well as some knowledge about the financial world.I have some little knowledge of algo trading as well. I am also very much interested in data science.My seniors introduced me to the opensource world and I always believed that contributing to an opensource project is the best way to improve your skills and learn more.

  • Why Debian? Why are you choosing Debian? What attracts you about Debian? : As a newbie to Debian community what I could feel was that Debian community is full of friendly and helping people who make and improve really good softwares .I would really like to be a part of such community.
