Debian GNU/Hurd

"In a discussion with the Debian Hurd porters it was decided that the Hurd port stays on FTPMaster until Wheezy is released. Should they have managed to get the port into a state that it is released together with all the others (probably as a technology preview), it is kept in the archive. Should they not manage this the port will be removed from the main archive and move fully to debian-ports.org."1

The Squeeze release of Debian GNU/kFreeBSD has paved the way for a Debian GNU/Hurd official release. The challenge is to get Debian GNU/Hurd ready for a Wheezy release, even as a "technology preview".

Before Debian GNU/kFreeBSD release

  • "The kFreeBSD architectures for the AMD64/Intel EM64T and i386 processor architectures are now release architectures. Severe bugs on these architectures will be considered release critical the same way as bugs on other architectures like armel or i386 are. If a particular package does not build or work properly on such an architecture this problem is considered release-critical."3

  • kfreebsd-i386 and kfreebsd-amd64 are in the Debian archive4
