DebianOn is an effort to document how to install, configure and use Debian on some specific hardware. Therefore potential buyers would know if that hardware is supported and owners would know how get the best out of that hardware. The purpose is not to duplicate the Debian Official Documentation, but to document how to install Debian on some specific hardware. If you need help to get Debian running on your hardware, please have a look at our user support channels where you may find specific channels (mailing list, IRC channel) dedicated to certain types of hardware. |

Configuration
Display
- The display controller seems to be in all T400 Models the same. Resolution is 1280x800 and works without any manual configuration. However, switching to an external Monitor which has for example 1366x768 does not work flawless. Equal or bigger monitors are working properly.
Audio
- Works out of the box.
Mouse
Both the Trackpoint and the ?TouchPad works out of the box.
Power Management
- Works out of the box.
WiFi
- Requires the use of non-free firmware.
(iwlwifi) https://wiki.debian.org/iwlwifi
Modem
- Works out of the box and appear as /dev/ttyS0 Tested with a German Telecom T-Concept Xi-721 ISDN telephone system using one of the 8 analog ports.
Docking Station
- Works out of the box.
Serial Port
- Appears as /dev/ttyS1 and is tested with an US Robotics i-Modem 64k (external ISDN Modem) connected to a german Telekom T-Concept Xi-721 ISDN telephone system plus direct on german and estonian ISDN Lines.
Parallel Port
- Tested only with an Relais board, because I have no LPT/Centronics printer, but it apears as /dev/parport0 and works flawless.
Modem
- Works the same as directly connected to the T400
USB Ports
- All 4 USB Ports are working perfect, only a little bit slower then the 3 from the T400
PS/2
- Tries Y-Adapter for Keyboard and Mouse and work flawless
Miscelaneous
CD/DVD to SATA Adapter
- I use a "Second HDD Caddy" from unknown Manufacturer using a HGST HTE725050 harddisk without any problems. The BIOS recognise it automatically.
