DebianOn is an effort to document how to install, configure and use Debian on some specific hardware. Therefore potential buyers would know if that hardware is supported and owners would know how get the best out of that hardware.

The purpose is not to duplicate the Debian Official Documentation, but to document how to install Debian on some specific hardware.

If you need help to get Debian running on your hardware, please have a look at our user support channels where you may find specific channels (mailing list, IRC channel) dedicated to certain types of hardware.

Configuration

Boot

To update your processors microcode and to remove those annoying boot messages install intel-microcode.

CPU Frequency Scaling Governors

Per default cpufreq can only use performance & powersave. To enable On Demand or Conservative you need to overwrite the default pstate governor (add intel_pstate=disable to kernel command line).

Note: Pstate is more energy-efficient than acpi-cpufreq!!!

Display/GPU

The built-in Intel HD 4000 graphic card works out of the box (xserver-xorg-video-intel) .

Audio

Alsa, works out of the box.

Touchpad/Trackpoint

Works Out of the box (xserver-xorg-input-synaptics and xserver-xorg-input-evdev)

Useful Power Saving Software

Network

LAN network card

Works out of the box, to remove messages about a possible missing firmware module (r8169) install firmware-realtek.

WiFi/Bluetooth

Requires the firmware-iwlwifi package.

Keyboard's Hotkeys

WLAN, Microphone & Camera switch does not work (you can probably remap them).
