DebianOn is an effort to document how to install, configure and use Debian on some specific hardware. Therefore potential buyers would know if that hardware is supported and owners would know how get the best out of that hardware. The purpose is not to duplicate the Debian Official Documentation, but to document how to install Debian on some specific hardware. If you need help to get Debian running on your hardware, please have a look at our user support channels where you may find specific channels (mailing list, IRC channel) dedicated to certain types of hardware. |

Important Note
There is currently a bug that ... USB 3.0 port does not boot. Able to install Debian Jessie by booting from the USB 2.0 port. USB 3.0 port functions correctly once live or installed kernel is booted.
Configuration
BIOS
Installed on version JIET22WW (1.07)
Change "UEFI Secure Boot" to OFF
Change "UEFI/Legacy Boot" to BOTH or LEGACY ONLY
Change "OS Optimized Defaults" to DISABLED
Display
https://packages.debian.org/jessie/firmware-linux-nonfree
Upon boot you will get an error message:
[drm:radeon_pci_probe] *ERROR* radeon kernel modesetting for R600 or later requires firmware-linux-nonfree.
This package is not installed by default. You need to add the contrib and non-free repositories to the APT sources list:
edit /etc/apt/sources.list
add contrib & non-free repository to each entry & save the file
apt-get update && apt-get install upgrade
apt-get install firmware-linux-nonfree
reboot now graphics work correctly
Audio
- (not covered yet)
Mouse
Touchpad works in live boot. Touchpad does not work in installer. Oddly touchpad will wake screen during install if screensaver turns off display. Touchpad works after install.
Power Management
- (not covered yet)
WiFi
https://wiki.debian.org/wl#supported
Upon fresh installation wifi will not function. The onboard ethernet does work so you will need a wired network to complete the following steps. Wifi requires package broadcom-sta-dkms. This package is in the non-free repository and is not installed by default. You need to add the contrib and non-free repositories to the APT sources list:
edit /etc/apt/sources.list
add contrib & non-free repository to each entry & save the file
apt-get update && apt-get install upgrade
apt-get install broadcom-sta-dkms
reboot now wifi works correctly
