CPU frequency scaling works, you can see the CPU changing state in 'powertop' if you do something intensive, like a lot of md5sums. |

DebianOn is an effort to document how to install, configure and use Debian on some specific hardware. Therefore potential buyers would know if that hardware is supported and owners would know how get the best out of that hardware. The purpose is not to duplicate the Debian Official Documentation, but to document how to install Debian on some specific hardware. If you need help to get Debian running on your hardware, please have a look at our user support channels where you may find specific channels (mailing list, IRC channel) dedicated to certain types of hardware. |

Important Note
To install from USB stick, you will need to change the ordering of boot devices in the BIOS.
- Hit Fn2 during startup to enter the BIOS. The relevant configuration item is under the 'Boot' menu.
Since it's the first thing in that page, it's highlighted already and you may mistake it for a subheading. Hit <return> to open it. The rest is self-explanatory.
To install over the network (via PXE), hit Fn12 during booting. You should not need to adjust the BIOS.
- Hit Fn2 during startup to enter the BIOS. The relevant configuration item is under the 'Boot' menu.
Configuration
Display
Intel Corporation Mobile 945GME Express Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:27ae] (rev 03)
3d - tested with 'stellarium' - seems to work out of the box.
xrandr - seems to work out of the box too
- xrandr -prop works
- lxrandr is able to change video resolution
Audio
Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller [8086:27d8] (rev 02)
Configured automatically, just worked. Speaker sound not brilliant, but usable. Headphone sound is fine, but initially plugging in headphones did not mute the speaker.
Some fine tuning to the volume may be required, too loud by default.
Mouse
The touchpad is supported, very responsive. The righthand side allows vertical scrolling. This can get annoying at times.
Hotkeys
These don't all work out of the box.

Fn+<ESC> works - suspends to ram, and resumes.
Yet s2ram does not. # s2ram -n

WiFi
02:00.0 0200: 168c:001c (rev 01)
02:00.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR242x 802.11abg Wireless PCI Express Adapter (rev 01)
The device is recognized by the 2.6.26-2 kernel (driver ath5k-pci). I can set SSID and WEP key, but can't get it to associate with anything.
Modem
Webcam
Works out of the box - appears as /dev/video0, driven by the uvcvideo module.
You need a decent program to talk to it, though. Try luvcview.
