DebianOn is an effort to document how to install, configure and use Debian on some specific hardware. Therefore potential buyers would know if that hardware is supported and owners would know how get the best out of that hardware.

The purpose is not to duplicate the Debian Official Documentation, but to document how to install Debian on some specific hardware.

If you need help to get Debian running on your hardware, please have a look at our user support channels where you may find specific channels (mailing list, IRC channel) dedicated to certain types of hardware.

Important Note

Configuration

Display

Works out of the box with Intel FOSS video drivers. HDMI works flawlessly with video and sound included.

Audio

Works out of the box.

Touchpad

Debian's default. Works out of the box.

Power Management

Works out of the box.

Suspend when closing lid. Resume flawlessly. Hibernate and resume flawlessly. Fan control and CPU frequency scaling flawlessly. Screen brightness auto reducing flawlessly. Hard disk spin down not verified working with no problems.

WiFi

You have to enable non-free repos and install firmware-realtek package. Other than that, works out of the box. If you are experiencing a slow network speed, like getting stucked at 120~140 kB/s even on a LAN transfer; then you need to do the following:

# vim /etc/modprobe.d/rtl8192.conf

And then write the following:

options rtl8192ce fwlps=0 ips=0 swenc=0 swlps=0 debug=2

Finally, you probably need to reload the module. You can do so by:

# ifconfig wlan0 down && modprobe -r rtl8192ce && modprobe rtl8192ce && ifconfig wlan0 up

Modem

WebCam

Works out of the box.

It is an USB camera. Enable with Fn+F10 and call a webcam app; Cheese, for example.

Hot Keys

Works out of the box.
