(!) ?Discussion

DebianOn is an effort to document how to install, configure and use Debian on some specific hardware. Therefore potential buyers would know if that hardware is supported and owners would know how get the best out of that hardware.

The purpose is not to duplicate the Debian Official Documentation, but to document how to install Debian on some specific hardware.

If you need help to get Debian running on your hardware, please have a look at our user support channels where you may find specific channels (mailing list, IRC channel) dedicated to certain types of hardware.

Power Management

Suspend to ram and suspend to disk appear to work flawlessly.

By default, when suspended to disk, the Wind's BIOS will not let you access the BIOS setup or the boot menu. If that bothers you, add shutdown method = shutdown to /etc/uswsusp.conf so that the BIOS will not know that you have suspended to disk.

WiFi

Starting with kernel 2.6.29, the wifi card works out of the box, using the rtl8187SE module. Note that the Fn-F11 (wlan key) controls the wifi's radio (i.e. rfkill), but the driver does not provide access (nor control) to this rfkill information. If the wifi's radio is turned off, the driver will not see any network and hence will seem to "not work".

With older kernels, use of a vendor driver is required, see rtl818x to install.

Keyboard's Hotkeys

Work as expected.
