DebianOn is an effort to document how to install, configure and use Debian on some specific hardware. Therefore potential buyers would know if that hardware is supported and owners would know how get the best out of that hardware.

The purpose is not to duplicate the Debian Official Documentation, but to document how to install Debian on some specific hardware.

If you need help to get Debian running on your hardware, please have a look at our user support channels where you may find specific channels (mailing list, IRC channel) dedicated to certain types of hardware.

Important Note

UEFI firmware Updates do not work via Linux, but do work from Windows.
- Download the firmware update files from Lenovo
- Boot using Hirens Boot CD PE - https://www.hirensbootcd.org/files/HBCD_PE_x64.iso - Will boot using a Ventoy USB or similar. Booting from USB requires pressing F12 repeatedly on startup.
- Run the update file with the power plugged in. It will fail with an unspecified error unless the power is plugged in. It will reboot at least once, possibly twice, then boot into a UEFI settings reset screen for a few seconds before booting the operating system.

SSD only took an M.2 2242 on my model, but did fit a small extender on an M.2 2230 OK. Some pictures of international variants seem to fit an M.2 2280, but your mileage may vary.

Configuration

Display

No known issues.
GPU passthrough works OK with virt-manager to both Linux and Windows guests - Windows requires virtio guest drivers

Audio

No known issues

Mouse

No known issues

Power Management

I did not manage to get hibernation working.
Sleep works on CLI command and menu selection, not on lid close or power button press unless Secure Boot disabled regardless of /etc/systemd/logind.conf and UEFI lid/flip setting.
Resume is always reliable.

WiFi

No known software issues - possible hardware issues with Realtek WiFi card. I am thinking of replacing it.

Modem
