DebianOn is an effort to document how to install, configure and use Debian on some specific hardware. Therefore potential buyers would know if that hardware is supported and owners would know how get the best out of that hardware. The purpose is not to duplicate the Debian Official Documentation, but to document how to install Debian on some specific hardware. If you need help to get Debian running on your hardware, please have a look at our user support channels where you may find specific channels (mailing list, IRC channel) dedicated to certain types of hardware. |

Important Note
Debian Wheezy has a really ugly defect. So, you are not able to use your keybord or mouse right after installing the system. The failure lies somewhere in /run, the fix is to remove that folder. More details below.
On the other Hand, Wheezy finally gets through the mounted partition issue, so that you don't have to manually update grub after installing via usb.
The best way to install Wheezy is to use unetbootin with the normal netinstall image from debian.org. Just choose the iso in unetbootin.
Configuration
Display
Works instantly.
Audio
Works instantly.
== Mouse and keyboard== If you boot Wheezy the first time after install, you will recognize fast that neither the mousepad nor the keyboard works in any way. That can easily fix with a one-line command.
The best way is to boot wheezy in save mode. The keyboard works fine in non grafik mode, it's just an issue with gnome. After logging in as root insert the line
rm -rf /run
and keyboard works fine under gnome. The mousepad works, but not really great, there is the known defect with the buttons. As in squeeze, type in
echo options psmouse proto=exps > /etc/modprobe.d/psmouse.modprobe.conf
and your mousepad will work usefull. But still zooming with two fingers and so on does not work.
Power Management
Works everything out of the box.
WiFi
The best way I found out was to use the module-assistant to install broadcom-sta and then install the b43-firmware:
Open terminal in root and type:
deb http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian wheezy main contrib non-free
aptitude update
aptitude install module-assistant wireless-tools
m-a a-i broadcom-sta
aptitude install firmware-b43-lpphy-installer
The steps explain themself.
Webcam
Works out-of-the-box.

Like Squeeze Wheezy works nearly out of the box. I used Wheezy with the 2.6.38 Kernel. -- Flowd 2023-12-06 23:56:59
