Important Note
- HP provides support only for Windows 10 and 7 from their support page
- There is no need to Disable Secure Boot as it is supported by Debian buster
Installation notes
1 - Create a Debian USB boot drive from MS Windows, if you only have this laptop available you can use Rufus for example. And refer to Wifi Note before removing windows.
2 - Shrink the default Windows partition to leave sufficient space for the Debian installation
2 - Press F9 to select boot option and select your USB drive
3 - If you can connect directly to a network using the wired connection I can recommend the graphical install, you will not need to install any additional drivers for the basic installation and you can configure the remaining hardware after install
4 - If you require wireless connection you will need to download the wireless drivers into a separate USB drive to use this during the installation
4 - Select the empty disk space and do an automatic partitioning with the Debian installer
Configuration
Display
(not fully tested yet).
Note that the laptop has an integrated sensor and the screen will rotate automatically in some window managers (e.g. GNOME) if you move the laptop (rotate and set it vertically on the table). I personally find this annoying and had to disable the rotation. In GNOME you can do this by selecting in the GNOME menu (top right) the icon next to the configuration icon. Alternatively, you can also disable the sensor service: $ sudo systemctl stop iio-sensor-proxy.service
$ sudo systemctl disable iio-sensor-proxy.service

Mouse
The integrated touchpad works fine after install. Mouse gestures work (e.g. up/down scroll with two fingers).
Power Management
Hibernation works out of the box after the install, power management shows the status of battery charging properly. A couple of errors are displayed in journal by Kernel related to ACPI, but they do not lead to any issue (probably due to this BIOS which expect windows) : kernel: platform MSFT0101:00: failed to claim resource 1
