DebianOn is an effort to document how to install, configure and use Debian on some specific hardware. Therefore potential buyers would know if that hardware is supported and owners would know how get the best out of that hardware.

The purpose is not to duplicate the Debian Official Documentation, but to document how to install Debian on some specific hardware.

If you need help to get Debian running on your hardware, please have a look at our user support channels where you may find specific channels (mailing list, IRC channel) dedicated to certain types of hardware.

Known Issues

The Debian netboot installer (bullseye) was not capable of proceeding, since not Ethernet and not Wi-Fi were working. Also, trackpad was not working. I also tried creating a firmware USB key with proprietary drivers from https://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/firmware/bullseye/current/ but without success. If you want Debian, I do not recommend this device.

Workaround: Ubuntu 24.04 live install instead has no problems, probably because it loads proprietary firmware.

Configuration

Display

No changes are required from the initial installation.

Audio

Intel Corporation Alder Lake PCH-P High Definition Audio Controller (rev 01)

There has to be installed a package with nonfree firmware: firmware-sof-signed. There is still some missing firmware in dmesg, but I don't miss functionality. Nice audio.

Mouse

Works Trackpoint and Touchpad. No changes are required from the initial installation.

Power Management

Hibernation and sleep modus works fine.

WiFi

No changes are required from the initial installation. In bookworm installer, The installation process installs the firmware-iwlwifi firmware package what is non-free
