. {OK} Install procedure for Debian Buster from stock USB-ISO: https://gitlab.com/runout/gpd-micropc

Installation process (with a regular debian stable image)
The rotated display (portrait instead of landscape) and non working keyboard at the installer (it's possible to use an external keyboard during installation) and the non working display/sound at the first boot may suggest that debian is not well supported on the gpd micropc. That is in fact not true because for debian (stable/buster or more recent) to be fully operational on the device one only need to install a recent kernel, either from buster-backports or testing/sid.

At first boot, after installation is complete, we then need to edit /etc/apt/sources.list to either add backports, Testing or sid to be able to install a more recent kernel. Because the display isn't working we need to do it remotely with ssh.

. {i} It's why during installation an ssh server must have been installed.

So at first boot, after installation, from another computer on the same local network (the micropc must be connected to internet with an ethernet cable), the following steps are necessary :

- On a terminal run ssh youruser@XX.XX.XX.XX (XX.XX.XX.XX being the local address of the micropc, youruser being the user you set up).

- Once connected, install/use the text editor of your choice (I recommend emacs) to edit /etc/apt/sources.list and add the sources you want.

- In case you added only backports then install the kernel : apt-get install linux-image-amd64/buster-backports.

- In case you configured your sources.list to target testing/sid then upgrade your system.

- Reboot, now your micropc is fully working with debian !

The external headphone jack recognizes my earplugs but not any speakers i tried.

From another tester : The external headphone jack recognizes my earplugs too and the speaker I tried work something like 1 or 2 seconds before becoming mute. As this happens, in the Gnome sound parameter section we can see the output device ("Périphérique de sortie" in french) going from Speakers (jack not plugged) to Headphones (jack plugged I can hear the sound from the speakers) to Headphones again (jack still plugged but no sound from the speaker anymore or anywhere). So it seems the jack doesn't works properly with speaker but maybe this could be easily resolved.

DebianOn is an effort to document how to install, configure and use Debian on some specific hardware. Therefore potential buyers would know if that hardware is supported and owners would know how get the best out of that hardware.

The purpose is not to duplicate the Debian Official Documentation, but to document how to install Debian on some specific hardware.

If you need help to get Debian running on your hardware, please have a look at our user support channels where you may find specific channels (mailing list, IRC channel) dedicated to certain types of hardware.

Important Note

 • {i} It's why during installation an ssh server must have been installed.
