DebianOn is an effort to document how to install, configure and use Debian on some specific hardware. Therefore potential buyers would know if that hardware is supported and owners would know how get the best out of that hardware.

The purpose is not to duplicate the Debian Official Documentation, but to document how to install Debian on some specific hardware.

If you need help to get Debian running on your hardware, please have a look at our user support channels where you may find specific channels (mailing list, IRC channel) dedicated to certain types of hardware.

Important Note

{X} The installation was done with a netboot image including the non-free firmware. Even so, the wireless card was not recognized (needed even newer firmware) but the installation could be done using the wired network. (This is fixed in the bookworm installer.)

Secure boot was disabled from the manufacturer and kept disabled for the installation.

Configuration

Display

The adapter model:

00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Alder Lake-UP3 GT2 [Iris Xe Graphics] (rev 0c)

Works fine with Xorg out of the box.

Audio

The sound device is:

00:1f.3 Multimedia audio controller: Intel Corporation Alder Lake PCH-P High Definition Audio Controller (rev 01)

Which works with the latest firmware from the SOF project. There is a bug and a workaround to get the microphone working: https://github.com/thesofproject/linux/issues/4099

Mouse

The touchpad works by loading the i2c_hid_acpi module. Add it to /etc/modules to automatically load on boot.

The driver is not loaded automatically which may be a kernel bug. For reference, this is the PCI device

00:15.3 Serial bus controller [0c80]: Intel Corporation Alder Lake PCH Serial IO I2C Controller #3 [8086:51eb] (rev 01)

Power Management

Works out of the box without a problem.

WiFi

The WiFi controller

00:14.3 Network controller: Intel Corporation Alder Lake-P PCH CNVi !WiFi (rev 01)

Needs the latest firmware as of 2023-03-02 from the linux firmware project.
