DebianOn is an effort to document how to install, configure and use Debian on some specific hardware. Therefore potential buyers would know if that hardware is supported and owners would know how get the best out of that hardware. The purpose is not to duplicate the Debian Official Documentation, but to document how to install Debian on some specific hardware. If you need help to get Debian running on your hardware, please have a look at our user support channels where you may find specific channels (mailing list, IRC channel) dedicated to certain types of hardware. |

= Configuration Required; = Only works with a non-free driver and or firmware
Important Note
BIOS version for this report is A01.
Because the Latitude 2100 has no CD/DVD, alternative install methods must be used. Using USB with netinstall works fine.
Configuration
Display
Intel Corporation Mobile 945GME Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03) with a resolution of 1024x600.
Audio
Audio driver is snd_hda_intel. For audio out: works with standard Lenny. The microphone and the audio-in is not working. A patched ALSA version from Realtek is needed for this, but this does not compile, because of Debian kernel changes.
Touchpad
It's an AlpsPS/2 Dualpoint touchpad, so two-finger actions are not supported.
Power Management
Works out of the box.
WiFi
Tested with Intel 5100 WiFi chip
You need to use a kernel >=2.6.27 to get the Intel WiFi chip working. It is possible to use the 2.6.30 kernel from Lenny backport.
Video
The built in web-cam works out of the box.
Touchscreen
There is the need for additional special drivers from Dell to get this working. After installing them, the touchscreen works fine.
