DebianOn is an effort to document how to install, configure and use Debian on some specific hardware. Therefore potential buyers would know if that hardware is supported and owners would know how get the best out of that hardware. The purpose is not to duplicate the Debian Official Documentation, but to document how to install Debian on some specific hardware. If you need help to get Debian running on your hardware, please have a look at our user support channels where you may find specific channels (mailing list, IRC channel) dedicated to certain types of hardware. |

= OK ; Unsupported(No Driver) ; = Error (Couldn't get it working); [?] Unknown, Not Test ; [-] Not-applicable
= Configuration Required; = Only works with a non-free driver and or firmware
Important Note
I read elsewhere that the NIC RTL8101E is not supported by default, but my install was actually debian-edu and worked OK.
Configuration
Display
Display is too chunky. If you use KDE, the fix is in
- /etc/kde3/kdm/kdmrc
find the line that reads
ServerArgsLocal=-nolisten tcp
and change it to
ServerArgsLocal=-nolisten tcp -dpi 96
This sets the dpi of the fonts, which makes everything look as it should.
Audio
Intel 82801G needs an ALSA upgrade to get it working. Download sources from http://www.alsa-project.org/main/index.php/Download Get alsa-driver, alsa-lib and alsa-utils untar them and do ./configure, make, make install There were some dependencies to resolve in order to get this working (not just build-essentials):
- aptitude install ncurses-dev libncursesw5-dev xmlto
Mouse
- USB mouse just works
Power Management
- (not covered yet)
WiFi
Broadcom BCM4312 drivers from http://www.broadcom.com/support/802.11/linux_sta.php Follow the instructions in the readme, but modprobe lib80211 doesn't work for lenny. Instead do modprobe ieee80211.
