DebianOn is an effort to document how to install, configure and use Debian on some specific hardware. Therefore potential buyers would know if that hardware is supported and owners would know how get the best out of that hardware.

The purpose is not to duplicate the Debian Official Documentation, but to document how to install Debian on some specific hardware.

If you need help to get Debian running on your hardware, please have a look at our user support channels where you may find specific channels (mailing list, IRC channel) dedicated to certain types of hardware.

Important Note

Before installing it is necessary to modify some UEFI Settings. They can be accessed by pressing the F2 key while the DELL logo is displayed at boot until a blue bar appears on the screen.

Change the SATA Mode from the default "RAID" to "AHCI". This will allow Linux to detect the NVMe SSD.

{X} There is currently a bug that means that some kernels (particularly newer ones) will detect the wrong ACPI revision. If you have odd problems with the display, or with just running lspci then you may need to set:

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="acpi_rev_override=5"

in /etc/default/grub. There are several variants of this advice, so if that doesn't work for you then perhaps try:

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX='acpi_osi=! acpi_osi="Windows 2009"'

Configuration

Display

Display is an Nvidia ?GeForce 1050 and it is recommended to use the proprietary nvidia drivers if you want the best graphics performance and power use.
