DebianOn is an effort to document how to install, configure and use Debian on some specific hardware. Therefore potential buyers would know if that hardware is supported and owners would know how get the best out of that hardware.

The purpose is not to duplicate the Debian Official Documentation, but to document how to install Debian on some specific hardware.

If you need help to get Debian running on your hardware, please have a look at our user support channels where you may find specific channels (mailing list, IRC channel) dedicated to certain types of hardware.

Important Note

THERE IS NO RJ-45 INTERFACE TO THIS DEVICE If you can't get the wireless working during install (I couldn't), this will be a disconnected device.

This review is more of a stub to report the results of using the Debian official Live CD, and the unofficial (with firmware) on this device.

Configuration

Display

Both the official and unofficial Debian live USB distributions were able to configure the display. KDE selected some "normal" size fonts for the screen, but other window dimensions appear pixel-sized, so the fonts often over-flow their containers. For example, the task bar is rendered at 3mm high, and the application labels are also about 3mm.

KDE responds to touch-screen inputs, selecting text, and dragging windows.

Audio

Mouse

Touch pad found unresponsive, but a standard USB mouse plugged in works.

Power Management

WiFi

I did try:

dpkg -i firmware-iwlwifi_20161130-2~bpo8+1_all.deb

using Jessie backport found at https://packages.debian.org/jessie-backports/all/firmware-iwlwifi/download

I also tried

cp iwlwifi-8000-ucode-25.30.13.0/iwlwifi-8000C-13.ucode /lib/firmware
modprobe -r iwlwifi
modprobe iwlwifi

(using iwlwifi-8000-ucode-25.30.13.0.tgz downloaded from http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/network-and-i-o/wireless-networking/000005511.html)

It didn't report any errors, but it also did not provide a wlan0 interface.

/var/log/messages reports:
