When you start in linux kernel of the current Debian, you will get the error following , and can not boot.
"smpboot: Booting Node 0, Processors #1"
You need to add "nosmp" option to parameter of linux kenrel boot.
NOTE: confirmed, SMP works fine with sid, "nosmp" isn't needed when using grub-efi and linux-image-3.11-2
