DebianOn is an effort to document how to install, configure and use Debian on some specific hardware. Therefore potential buyers would know if that hardware is supported and owners would know how get the best out of that hardware.

The purpose is not to duplicate the Debian Official Documentation, but to document how to install Debian on some specific hardware.

If you need help to get Debian running on your hardware, please have a look at our user support channels where you may find specific channels (mailing list, IRC channel) dedicated to certain types of hardware.

Important Note

Installation

If you need networking use the non-free install media to avoid any issues.

I also strongly advise to use the testing install media since the amdgpu driver in stable is to old!

{X} Note: As with BIOS Version 1.13 there is currently a bug in the IVRS table resulting in CPU soft lockups to overcome this issue add the following kernel boot flags to your bootloader.

ivrs_ioapic[4]=00:14.0 ivrs_ioapic[5]=00:00.2

Configuration

Display/GPU

The built-in Vega 8 graphic card works out of the box with the xserver-xorg-video-amdgpu.

If you want to remove warnings about missing firmware install amd64-microcode and firmware-amd-graphics

If you want to use the discrete Radeon RX560X you can use PRIME

If the X-Server won't start try to blacklist the radeon kernel module eg. by adding the modprobe.blacklist=radeon kernel boot flag.

Power Saving

For power saving you can try tlp which works well (~3,5-4,0 hours on battery mode) or use powertop to optimize your power consumption.

Audio

Alsa, works out of the box.

Touchpad

If the touchpad won't work add the i8042.nopnp kernel boot flag.

If you need tapping have a look here

Network

LAN network card

Works out of the box, to remove messages about a possible missing firmware module install firmware-realtek.

WiFi

Works out of the box, to remove messages about a possible missing firmware module install firmware-atheros.

Bluetooth

Works out of the box.
