DebianOn is an effort to document how to install, configure and use Debian on some specific hardware. Therefore potential buyers would know if that hardware is supported and owners would know how get the best out of that hardware.

The purpose is not to duplicate the Debian Official Documentation, but to document how to install Debian on some specific hardware.

Important Note

Getting the USB keyboard to work at boot: press windows + power to start.

F2 gets to BIOS, F12 gets boot prompt.

Booted from debian live USB to test, then installed from live USB.

During boot, volume acts as up/down (for grub, bios, etc) and windows button acts as select.

Xorg issue w/ console displays not shown. Fix unknown? Ensure openssh-server (or similar) is installed and you can get a network connection to the machine!

Then downloaded ati-driver-installer-11-5-x86.x86_64.run from AMD driver site and extracted the driver (needed the control file to remove unsupported hardware watermark).

Coppied tthe control file out into the /etc/ati directory (backing up the old one)

This seems to generally work for 2D Xorg. 3D will require building the 3D proprietary driver...

Seems like maybe the touchscreen needs a better driver as often the mouse gets hung up?

Audio

Seems to have an HDMI and an Azalia driver. Not working in Squeeze's 2.6.32-5 kernel.

Install 2.6.38.2 (or better) from testing, create asound.conf:

The file (above) ensures that default sound goes to the internal speakers,as opposed to the HDMI out.

Generally, this seems to work, except for an IRQ collision. The collision seems to occur only on reboot (as opposed to cold start).

Mouse

Touchscreen probably needs an updated driver.
