DebianOn is an effort to document how to install, configure and use Debian on some specific hardware. Therefore potential buyers would know if that hardware is supported and owner would know how get the best out of that hardware.

The purpose is not to duplicate the Debian Official Documentation, but to document how to install Debian on some specific hardware.

Important Note

{i} This laptop comes with EFI Secure Boot enabled. It can easily be disabled in the BIOS (F2 at boot) by switching to the legacy BIOS mode. However, this will prevent Windows from booting, if you want to do a dual boot install. I noticed that to disable Secure Boot, a BIOS password must first be configured. Windows boots with secure boot disabled, but I could not get it to boot the Debian installer from USB in this mode. So, used legacy BIOS mode; don't need Windows anyway.

Configuration

Display

Works, no problem.

Audio

Works, no problem.

Mouse

The clickpad works, but linux does not know about the touch areas for the buttons at the bottom. So to left click, need to physically click the pad. To drag, need to physically click the pad while dragging with the same finger (cannot click with one and drag with another). This can be quite annoying.

This post has a driver that can be installed to fix the problem: http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?t=71944

Power Management

Sleep and resume works.

WiFi

Works out of the box, in the Debian installer. No non-free drivers needed! (Atheros AR9485.)
