DebianOn is an effort to document how to install, configure and use Debian on some specific hardware. Therefore potential buyers would know if that hardware is supported and owners would know how get the best out of that hardware. The purpose is not to duplicate the Debian Official Documentation, but to document how to install Debian on some specific hardware. If you need help to get Debian running on your hardware, please have a look at our user support channels where you may find specific channels (mailing list, IRC channel) dedicated to certain types of hardware. |

Important Note
The built-in Ethernet LAN card did not work previously (reported in 553024, fixed as of linux-2.6 2.6.32-11).
Squeeze users should use linux-image-2.6.32-5-* or later. Workaround for earlier linux-2.6 versions:
modprobe -r tg3 broadcomm modprobe broadcomm modprobe tg3
Configuration
Display
- (VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Core Processor Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 12))
Since the CPU is Intel Core i3 330M, the display adapter is the one built-in the CPU package: Intel GMA HD. The kernel part of intel video driver works fine and KMS is working, the driver in the Xorg part works fine too. Tested using amd64 Debian Squeeze installer CD (20100216 build). Not tested: 3D, xrandr, external screen.
To make the brightness Fn hotkey works add this to the kernel parameter: acpi_osi=Linux If GRUB2 is used, edit /etc/default/grub: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="acpi_osi='Linux'" Then run update-grub and reboot, the brightness hotkey should works.
Audio
- (Audio device: Intel Corporation 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset High Definition Audio (rev 05))
Mouse
Built-in touchpad works without synaptics driver. Not tested: in Xorg using synaptics driver
Power Management
Suspend/sleep: Working Fn hotkey for sleep can be used by installing acpi-support package.
Hibernate: not tested yet
WiFi
- (Network controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR928X Wireless Network Adapter (PCI-Express) (rev 01))
Working with ath9k driver. There are two blocks used to control WiFi:
- Soft block (can be controlled via rfkill package)
- Hard block (can be controlled via Fn hotkey, can be queried via rfkill package)
Webcam
- (Acer Crystal Eye)
Working with uvcvideo driver.
Memory Card Reader
- (Alcor Micro Corp. Multi Flash Reader)
Working. The reader is an internal USB mass storage device which activate itself when a memory card is inserted.
