Smart Common Input Method (SCIM)

SCIM is the Smart Common Input Method, a platform for inputting more than thirty languages, including Chinese-Japanese-Korean style character languages (CJK), and many European languages. SCIM is part of Debian Internationalization

Purposes:

  • Provide a simple and powerful-common interface for users from as many language groups as possible. For example see instructions for gnome-chinese-input.

  • Provide a clear architecture for programming, so to reduce time required to develop individual input methods.
