This page lists games that appear suitable for Debian, but which were not packaged either because nobody had the time or because nobody heard about it yet. After processing one of these games (evaluation of license, packaging), please move the corresponding entries to the appropriate wiki page: Games/[package_name] or ["Games/Unsuitable"].
Please keep the list alphabetically sorted!

ITP is [http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=350391 #350391].
Some good [http://revu.tauware.de/details.py?upid=2692 game] and [http://revu.tauware.de/details.py?upid=2869 data] packages exist in Ubuntu's REVU.
EddyP : [http://svn.debian.org/wsvn/pkg-games/packages/trunk/glest/?rev=0&sc=0 The game package] was imported and [http://svn.debian.org/wsvn/pkg-games/packages/trunk/glest/debian/changelog?op=file&rev=0&sc=0 improved] in the pkg-games repo.
The game is not big-endian friendly and the big endian patch is not finished. It is [http://pkg-games.alioth.debian.org/devel/glest-be-patch/glest-cvs20070106-incomplete-be-enabling.patch published] in its [http://pkg-games.alioth.debian.org/devel/glest-be-patch/STATUS-TODO current state] as a patch the upstream CVS (as of 2006-01-06). Unfortunately I will not have access to a powerpc/big endian machine starting soon (probably next week) so I can't continue with this.
The game package is work in progress by the Debian Games Team. [http://nana.rulezlan.org/~goneri/pkg-games/debian/glest/ You can download and test the still unreleased package].
The [http://revu.tauware.de/details.py?upid=2869 data package] can be taken from revu.
Upstream has switched to [http://glest.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/glest/ svn]
Maniadrive
Home page: [http://maniadrive.raydium.org/]
- License: ?
Download: http://maniadrive.raydium.org/index.php?downloads=yes
- Description: a free clone of Trackmania
Screenshot: http://maniadrive.raydium.org/index.php?screenshots=yes
- comment: (Quote from the official faq) Two dependencies are automatically downloaded from configure script:
- * ODE (Open Dynamics Engine)
- * PHP (v5) The problem here is that a lot of Linux distros do not provides PHP as a library, but only as a CLI program and an Apache module. ODE is released by distros in a lot of various versions (0.3x, 0.5, 0.6, CVS), wich makes things very complex for us. As a packager, you must know that Raydium "configure" script does not generates anything (no config.h nor Makefile) and is only here to download ODE (from our server) and PHP (from www.php.net) and checks all other dependencies, so it's possible to package the game without calling configure script and provide these libraries in another way.
- * Update: ODE 0.7 is in experimental and is maintained by the team. Things will be easier.

Sauerbraten

Description: Experimental engine based on [http://cube.sourceforge.net/ Cube], can be seen as "Next-Gen Cube", or "Cube 2". The main issue here is that Sauerbraten need to have r/w access in its data directorys. We need a patch to be able to use the $HOME directory for such things.
- Comments:
?PatrikFimml @ ?DateTime(2006-12-16T16:23:47Z) : Gentoo has an ebuild with a patch to store configuration files in the home directory, that could help. --
EddyP @ DateTime : there are some [http://aluigi.altervista.org/adv/sauerburn-adv.txt security] [http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=111566#c9 concerns], apparently and we need to build from source. Building from source [http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=111566#c31 seems to solve some speed rendering issues]. The [http://bugs.gentoo.org/attachment.cgi?id=100392 patch to build (more) cleanly from source the ebuild] is in the [http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=111566 Gentoo BR].
