How to Translate FreedomBox into your language ?

FreedomBox is opened to newcomers from all over the world.
Making FreedomBox available in your native language is the best way to start using the box:
by being useful to the FreedomBox community, you will make friends, get help when needed and learn faster.
Let's get started!

1. First Step: Welcome to FreedomBox Community

As a start, feel free to introduce yourself and your language on the #freedombox IRC channel or the discussion list.
Someone will guide you progressively towards two main fields opened to contribution, user interface and website content.

2. Option 1: User Interface (UI)

FreedomBox web interface is called Plinth.
You can help translating navigation terms and messages to users generated by Plinth registering to the following collaborative platforms.
Make sure to introduce your self in order to avoid double translations.

3. Option 2: Website Content (Wiki and Manual)

FreedomBox general introduction and user manual are built on a wiki website part of the Debian community.
Please register to the wiki and start collaborating on #freedombox IRC channel.

If you are not comfortable with the wiki process, some active users are happy to introduce it to you on the IRC channel. Pages can be created for you, so that you just have to enter your content in it if needed.

If you are comfortable with wiki, there is a need for minimal content in your language, this minimal content is not discussed yet and you are welcome to propose a design for it. We can trust this minimal content is involving these pages though:
https://wiki.debian.org/FreedomBox
https://wiki.debian.org/FreedomBox/Introduction
Neederlands content has an ultra minimal intro to catch the attention for instance:
https://wiki.debian.org/nl/FreedomBox

If you have any question and comment in mind, it is great to express them on IRC or the discussion list in order to build this welcome page targeting newcomers.

4. Tips and Tricks for Localization

Steps to test Plinth translations on the latest virtualbox image.

5. Discussion/Dispute Page

FreedomBox is a collaborative project where all voices are equal, newcomers included. Please read the Discussion Localization page, react or launch a discussion about how you think your box content should be created and translated.
