Ideas to make EasyLXDE easier, more usable, more awesome? Please add them here!
(Please check the main page (EasyLXDE) first in case the idea has already been included.)
Documentation suggestions
All documentation done on the wiki. Perhaps use the FlaggedRevisions extension to have an "approved version." (This means doing it on a MediaWiki wiki with this extension, e.g. the LXDE wiki, unless there's something equivalent on the Debian wiki?)
An errata page like Mandriva's is incredibly useful.
- A README file - viewable on the wiki, and either linked from the desktop, or opened in autostart.sh (with a "Don't show again" option?) This can contain: essential links; where and how to get help; key tips for beginners (e.g. "you might want to join a LUG, or Linux User Group"); the most significant known bugs (e.g. "suspend doesn't work, but hibernate does").
If the version of ?PCManFM used doesn't have a trash folder, make sure the user knows that.
Installation suggestions
Choose a very easy and intelligent partition process for installation. Mandriva seems to do this very well, detecting existing partions, making it easy for the newbie to know what is happening, and even offering the option to keep the existing partitions as they are. (Other distros may now be as good - this is just an observation. -- Chriswaterguy.)
Feature suggestions
LXDE is already good at reducing energy usage. Perhaps there are more ideas in other distros focused on energy optimization, e.g. WattOS
- PCManFM doesn't support network connexion (remote PC); it's its (unique ?) main limitation. Maybe is it interesting to provide this functionnality or a tools with this functionnality .
