News for Debian developers
This wiki page collects small news that all developers should know but that are not worth a dedicated mail to debian-devel-announce. When we have collected 5 items, we'll send the content of this wiki page to debian-devel-announce. Follow the template "Example of news" and add your news below it. See /Help for more information on how to write entries.

Debian MiniConfs
So, DebConf is over and pretty soon you'll be missing it (or wishing you were missing it). This part always makes some a bit sad but inevitably brings us back next year to see everyone again. BUT, you don't need to miss everyone for the whole year between ?DebConfs since there are some Debian ?MiniConfs organised between now and then.
Earlier this year there was a MiniDebCamp in Thailand attended by about 30 local people and 5 from Europe, Australia, Japan and Taiwan. The MiniConf in India that overlapped with the end of DebConf reportedly had almost 200 people attending.
In late October there is a MiniConf in Paris, France. In early November there is a Debian MiniConf at FOSSASIA in Ho Chi Minh (Saigon), Vietnam. Events like these help grow the Debian community around the world so please support them by attending, giving talks and promoting them on your blog, microblog, mailing list or irc/chat channel. If you are organising one of these events, please consider contacting the DebConf global team in order to get a <country><year>.mini.debconf.org domain for your Debian MiniConf.

Debian Maintainer index
Enrico Zini has contributed a nice overview page that lists all current Debian Maintainers (DM) and the packages they maintain.

GoogleCode redirector
Today I launched the beta-testing of a GoogleCode redirector, meant to be used in debian/watch (by uscan(1) and DEHS). Feel free to use it, report bugs or ask for features!

Debian Developer Portfolio Service
I added several new types of information to the Debian Developer Portfolio Service recently:
- link to user's Debian wiki homepage (may be specified via URL parameter wikihomepage, otherwise generated from capitalized name parts)
- optional link to users Debian forum page (only if forum id is specified as URL parameter forumsid)
- ssh command lines for MIA information, owned debian.net domains and group membership
- finger command and URL for retrieving GPG keys from db.debian.org
- finger command to retrieve developer information from db.debian.org
I also added a cron job to do a daily synchronization of the gpg key information from keyring.debian.org. DDPortfolio uses information from Debian developer as well as Debian maintainer keyrings.
Debian Maintainer GPG fingerprints and full names are now automatically retrieved from their email address in the same way it is done for Debian Developers.
Thanks to Paul Wise (pabs) for a flow of new ideas for ddportfolioservice.

#debian-ubuntu on OFTC
Lucas Nussbaum blogged about the #debian-ubuntu IRC channel on OFTC. It can be very useful when you have a question about the state of a given package on the Ubuntu side (and vice-versa).

Team uploads
Some packaging teams use a single mailing list that collects all bug reports, and allow normal uploads by team members without them being listed directly as Maintainer or Uploader. In that case, the special first line “ * Team upload.” will avoid to the upload to be confused with a NMU. TeamUploads are supported by the debchange (dch) tool of the devcripts package, via a --team command-line option.
