• Get Xorg + gnome/kde/xfce/lxde (lxde is working, xfce should work, kde is missing working dbus (due to local socket auth and bugs in select() cornercases)) + some webbrowser working (iceweasel 31 works, patch available for fixing https in 739658).

• No more binaries built in "use debian-ports" era (http://lists.debian.org/debian-hurd/2013/07/msg00014.html):

• Basic ACPI support

  • Poweroff is now supported

• DSA concerns

  • Network support

    • linux 2.6.32 drivers.

  • Memory leak issues

    • Fixed by rbraun's patches, > 2 weeks buildd uptime now (reboots now due to erratic build scripts (e.g. make -j), or kernel / core system upgrades)

• proper dhcp support in installed system

  • use ifup/ifdown instead of translators entry

• Switch by default to plain sysv startup

• fix "su" to root discrepancy (PATH does not include sbin etc.).
