MiniDebConfWomen 2014 Barcelona Call for Papers
=================================================

DebianWomen is proud to announce the first MiniDebConfWomen! The event will
take place on March 15th and 16th in Barcelona, where Debian enthusiasts
from far and wide will gather to talk about the latest Debian changes, the
Debian community and meet up new and old friends.

We want to have a mini-debconf with both talks and social events, to which
everyone in Debian is invited but the speakers in the talks are all people
that identify as female.

This idea would help in several ways:

 * Encourage women who haven't yet given their first DebConf talk
 * Provide role models for women who are interested in contributing
 * Debunk the myth that there are not enough women who can give talks
 in DebConf

It is not the idea of the event to talk about women in free software, or
women in debian, but rather talk about Debian subjects.

DebianWomen invites submissions of proposals for papers, presentations,
discussion sessions and tutorials for its MiniDebConfWomen conference.

Submissions are not limited to traditional talks: you could propose a
performance, art installation, debate, or anything else.

This year submission of a formal written paper for the conference
proceedings is again optional, though encouraged. Providing a written
paper in advance means that interested people can attend your session
ready with ideas for discussion, and especially helps those who find
it hard to follow rapid English speech.

Regular sessions will be 45 minutes long, including time for questions,
with a 15 minute break between events.

All talks are welcome, both newbie level and very advanced level. We would
probably divide them into tracks.

If you have one or more talk proposals, please write us at
debian-miniconf@cpl.upc.edu (public list). It doesn't imply a commitment
for that talk, but it could give us an idea of what talks could be
available.

These are open ideas of things that might be interesting to present. Feel
free to send us new ideas even if you don't plan to give the talk yourself.
