About this Event

Welcome to Taiwan MiniDebConf. In Nov 9th~11th, Debian folks will gather in Wulai for three days to develop, discuss and present any cool things for Debian. Join us at Wulai and help drive the future of Debian!

Event details

This MiniDebConf is a community gathering to learn and share about open source practices through demo and discussion in an environment to inspire participation and creative design.

This event will welcome everyone with an interest in the Debian project for a series of talks and workshops about Debian. Allowing users, contributors and developers to meet each other is also one of the main goals of this event. We are especially looking forward to meeting Debian developers from around the world :)

Please join us in Wulai on Saturday 9th to Monday 11th of November, 2013. Participants may get accommodation and food sponsorship. Remember to add your name to this wiki page below if you are joining us.

From Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE)

  1. There's direct bus from TPE airport to Taipei Main Station (last stop). Please take bus 1819. Price is NTD$ 125.

  2. And then please follow the Local Transportation about how to go to Wulai from Taipei Main Station.
    1. You should be dropped near the Gate East 3 out of the Taipei main station. Please go inside the station.

    2. Find any escalator to go to the underground level. Any one is ok.

From Taipei Songshan Airport (TSA)

  1. Please use the MRT from TSA to Taipei Main Station. When you arrived, go directly to the MRT station. You should be in Songshan Airport Station (松山機場) on brown line.
    • Buy a ticket to Taipei Main Station, Price is NTD$ 25. It looks like a blue plastic coin.

  2. Now you can take the MRT to Zhongxiao Fuxing Station (忠孝復興). Please be aware of the direction. To go to Zhongxiao Fuxing Station, you'll need to get on the MRT of the direction to Taipei Zoo, not to Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center.
  3. On Zhongxiao Fuxing Station, you have to get off and transfer to the blue line. Please don't go out of the station. Find a very long escalator to go down for the blue line.
  4. Take the blue line from Zhongxiao Fuxing Station to Taipei Main Station.
  5. And then please follow the Local Transportation about how to go to Wulai from Taipei Main Station.

Local Transportation

  1. From Taipei Main Station. Take bus 849 from Taipei to Wulai. Get off the bus at the last stop. Price of the ticket is NTD$ 45.

    1. Find M8 exit. It is in the Station Front Merto Mall (站前地下街) located at underground level.

    2. When you go out of the exit, turn left and walk directly along the left side.

    3. Continuely walking forward, and you'll see a police office.

    5. wait for bus 849 at ths bus stop. 15~20 mins per one bus. Total trip time is about an hour.

  2. From the Wulai bus stop, please give us a call to see if we have a local driver for you. The price is NTD$ 300.

    • Alternative way: If you can gather 20 people in MRT Xindian Station (捷運新店站). You can have a small bus for NTD$ 3000 to the final destination.
    • Final choice: From the Wulai bus stop, take a taxi to the final destination. Normally it is about NTD$ 300 to NTD$ 350. And no more than NTD$ 360 because it is not a fair price. We don't suggest this way because you have to discuss the price to the taxi driver.

  • We have food sponsorship for international participants, all of the speakers, and staff.
  • Average NTD$ 80 for a meal if you want to pay by yourself.

Accommodations / 住宿

  • Please arrive at Day 0. You can check-in after 3PM on Nov 8th.
  • Please checkout before 10AM on Nov 12th (Day 4).
  • Basically 6 people per room. If you can find a group of 6 people, you can ask us to arrange a room for your group to be together.
  • We have accommodation sponsorship for international participants, all of the speakers, and staff.
  • If you would like to pay for the accommodations by yourself, the first day is NTD$ 450. For any extra days of stay, it costs NTD$ 250/day.
  • Please bring your own towel. Towels is not provided by the hotel. / 民宿沒有提供毛巾, 需要自己帶
  • Shampoo, soap, teeth brush, pillow, bed linen, and hair dryer are all provided. / 洗髮精, 肥皂, 牙刷, 枕頭, 床, 吹風機有提供. 不需要自己準備.
  • Please bring a tea cup/coffee cup/mug/vacuum flask(cup/mug) for drining water and making the instant coffee/milk-tea and tea with hot water. / 請自備水杯,一個適合沖泡熱飲的杯子最好;現場有飲水機,也會提供茶包/三合一咖啡/奶茶等。
  • A pair of open-toe shoes (or slippers for outdoor) will be more convenient for yourself. (The water dispenser and hair dryers are placed in the first floor for security considerations.) / 建議帶雙拖鞋,方便你晚上休息時還要上下樓等等(吹風機跟飲水機因安全考量會被限制在一樓大廳使用)
  • Please keep the room clean.
