Felipe Fonseca & Dalton Martins....Meta Reciclagem   1. INTRO TO CUSTOM DEBIAN DISTRIBUTIONS

Formerly lumped in with other "subprojects," Custom Debian
Distributions have in the last year chosen a new name and developed
quickly both technically and socially. Led in part by the example of
Skolelinux (now Debian-Edu), CDDs are working on creating a common
infrastructure for package selection and are developing policy and
methods for allowing custom configuration of packages fully within
the Debian system through low priority Debconf questions to official
Debian packages.

This BOF is for anyone working on Custom Debian Distributions,
interested in doing so -- as a developer or just someone who wants to
use a customized version of Debian -- or just interested in the
concept! Participants will discuss the technologies, status, and
future of custom package selection and custom package configuration
within Debian.

How to use technology to really help people's lives?
Metareciclagem is a concept about developing and using
social technology aimed at [ações em rede - networked
action? net action? action in network? :( ]. In the
last year and a half we've been developing new ways
to use techonology to foster collaboration, alternate
economic cycles and to strenghten local culture and
integrating it in an interconnected world.
2. BUILDING CUSTOM DEBIAN BOOTABLE CDS

Building from the introduction of CDDs in the previous BOF, this BOF
will talk specifically about the technical, and non-technical, aspects
of turning a CDD into a bootable CD.

One goal of this sessions is to customize and create a bootable CD as
a working example. The workshop will attempt both to educate
developers on the technical mechanisms used to create bootable CDs and
to show less technical users/organizations the type of changes that
are possible on bootable CDs and the type and level of communication
useful in having these changes take form in the production of CD.

3. FREE SOFTWARE USE AMONG ORGANISATIONS WORKING FOR SOCIAL JUSTICE

Many non-profit organizations have an active interest in Free Software
-- they want to be using it for philosophical reasons. Many of these
organizations are already using Free Software. Many are not yet.

This BOF is a sharing and brain storming session that aims to bring
together members of organizations doing social justice work and
Debian/Free Software developers to allow for conversation about the
role of FOSS in social justice work.

4. FREE SOFTWARE IN BRAZIL

This BOF will be a chance for Brazlian developers, users, and
organizations to showcase the role that Free Software has played in
their work and the role that they have played in Free Software --
focusing (of course) on Debian (and Debian-NP).

Focussing the discussion on the political and cultural climate
surrounding FLOSS in Brazil, this talk aims to outline the potentials
advantages and obstacles for Debian(-NP)and free software in general in Brazil.

5. NGO REALITIES: HOW TO USE TECHNOLOGY TO REALLY HELP PEOPLE'S LIVES

Metareciclagem is a concept about developing and using social
technology aimed at [ações em rede - networked action? net action?
action in network?]. In the last year and a half we've been
developing new ways to use technology to foster collaboration,
alternate economic cycles and to strengthen local culture and
integrate it in an interconnected world.

This BOF will be a chance for the NGO participants to show the
Debian(-NP) hackers present their projects and to allow the developers
to sit back and gain inspiration.
