In case you're willing to actually join pkg-multimedia, please write an email introducing yourself and your work so far to our mailing lists. Ideally you are already reading that mailing list for some time and actively help out by sending patches and contribute to our discussions.

By joining the team, we expect from you that you:

  * have created an alioth account.
  * have subscribed pkg-multimedia-maintainers@lists.alioth.debian.org
  * have subscribed pkg-multimedia-commits@lists.alioth.debian.org
  * are familiar with managing bugs in debian.
  * agree to review other's work (patches and packages).

Please confirm all these points in your introducing mail! We will then consider your application and add yourself to the pkg-multimedia team on alioth. You will then have full write access to all pkg-multimedia branches and can integrate your and other's patches and packages.

2. Getting new software in Debian

In general, we of course care for new multimedia packages. However we cannot sponsor packages on a regular basis. Please see DebianMentorsNet for a service aiming at this.

Yes, we do. Please keep in mind that signing and uploading is the least work that needs to be done for sponsoring. It causes much more work to actually review, improve and fix packages. That's why we maintain our packages in git. See also PackagingWithGit and ?DevelopPackaging.

Please find a team member to integreate your work in our team repository, so that any team member can look at, improve and fix it if necessary.

The rationale is that we need someone in the team as contact person in case some action is needed for the package.

2.4. Nobody in your team seems interested!

Well, either your package does not really fit the team member's interest, or (more likely) we are overworked and don't find time to integrate your package. Please consider joining the team.

Hello, For most teams, the pages that explains how to join and contribute to a team is a sub pages of the Teams page (so Teams/DebianMultimedia or ?Teams/pkg-multimedia at your option). The page DebianMultimedia could remain to track current project (like ../Policy and ../FFmpegUnstripped).
